Mabry-Hazen House is hosting an old-fashioned Fourth of July front porch celebration on Thursday, July 4th, 2019 from 5:30-10pm. Gather with us to celebrate Independence Day, the Declaration of Independence, and community. Enjoy great views, good food and beer, live music, and tours of the 1858 house in a leisurely atmosphere. Launched from Henley Street Bridge, the western side of Mabry's Hill offers an unparalleled panorama of the firework show.
Overlooking downtown Knoxville to the west and the Great Smoky Mountains to south, historic Mabry's Hill enjoys a spectacular view of the City of Knoxville's Festival on the Fourth fireworks. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and spread out on our 7 acres of greenspace near downtown and right off I-40. Avoid the downtown traffic and take it easy with this laid-back celebration. It is the perfect time to come chill on the hill!
Take in the surrounding natural beauty and history while savoring food from Knox Wurst and beer from a local brewery. We'll also have several activities for kids and the young at heart including sack races, seed spitting contests, three-legged races, bocce, croquet, corn hole, cake walk and much more. Tours of the historic home will begin at 6pm.
Event will occur rain or shine.

Built in 1858, Mabry-Hazen House is strategically located on the highest hill east of downtown Knoxville with spacious views in all directions. The home was occupied and defended by both armies during the Civil War. It housed three generations of the same family for 130 years, and the museum showcases one of the largest original family collections in America. Your attendance will help support the museum's mission to preserve and educate the public about an important part of East Tennessee history.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How many people attend? How do I know if tickets are still for sale?
A: We sell 225 adult tickets, and usually have approximately 250 people including volunteers each year. We have an automatic cut off point on Eventbrite and will update this page as soon as tickets are sold out. Tickets do sell quickly. Follow us on Facebook to get updates as the date gets closer!
Q: How well can you see the fireworks?
A: Mabry’s Hill is the highest hill north of the Tennessee River. It offers a spectacular view of downtown Knoxville and Henley Street Bridge. The main reason the hilltop was occupied by both armies during the Civil War was it gave such a commanding view of the downtown. While we typically have a great view every year, we cannot control the weather or which way the wind blows.
Q: Do I need to bring a chair?
A: Yes. We will provide some tables and chairs, but guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. We also line chairs up on the western edge of the property specifically for viewing the fireworks. The central lawn is laid out for eating and enjoying the live music. Mabry’s Hill consists of 7 acres of land, so we have plenty of room for everyone!
Q: Can I bring a cooler and food?
A: Yes. You are welcome to bring a cooler and your own food. Knox Wurst food truck will also have favorite holiday foods available purchase. Two (2) beverages are included with your ticket, but guests are welcome to BYO too. We will not, however, tolerate anyone contributing to minors. Non-alcoholic beverages are provided along with your ticket.
Q: Do you mail tickets?
A: No. Your name will automatically be added to our guest list when purchasing tickets through Eventbrite. Simply arrive on site when the event opens and we will check your name off the list.
